This guide is for anyone able to access the Konica Minolta printers on MBTS managed and BYOD devices.
Things to keep in mind before Printing:
- The bypass tray is used for all special media, which includes paper types like thick paper, envelopes, letterhead, etc.
- This is not meant to be used for big projects all at once. Special media types are harder for the machine to process and are more prone to paper jams if overfilled. Staggering projects of this nature is recommended.
- Fanning papers lightly can help prevent more than one paper from being pulled into the printer at once and causing paper jams.
To Print Everything Except Envelopes:
- Select the print job you are wanting to print and go to "File" and then select "Print
2. Select "Printer Properties". It should default to "Paper/Quality", but if it does not, then select this option.
3. For the "Paper Source" dropdown, then select "Manual Feed"
4. For the Media dropdown, then select the paper type of the print job you are wanting to do (in this case it is 'Letterhead').
5. Then press "OK".
6. Make sure you have the printer selected on the printer dropdown.
Please note: If there are numbers in the name, those are not the correct printers. All printers will just be the name of the offices. If there are numbers, disregard that printer as it is from the old Xerox printers we no longer have here on Campus. Some computers may still have related software even though those printers are no longer active. If you do not see this, feel free to disregard this message.
Example of a correct selection below:
Envelope settings:
For the envelope settings, they should be automatic. If they are not working, troubleshoot by making the settings the same as the ones below:
Select "Mailings" then "Envelopes"
Then make sure the settings look like this Under "Envelopes" and "Labels":
If this is NOT what they look like, go to "Options" to change the Envelope and Label settings. To do this, select the tab you want to change and then press "Options" at the bottom of the box:
And make it match this under "Envelope Options":
And this under "Printing Options":
Then select "OK":
For "Labels," make it match the pictures below:
Then press "OK."
Once you have checked all of this and pressed print for the envelope, go to the printer:
The bypass tray will be on the right side of the machine, and will look like this when closed:
To open, pull gently on the top of the tray and pull straight to the side:
This is what it will look when it is opened correctly:
Then place the envelope in the tray in the correct orientation (flat edge down, envelope flap up) and the printer will automatically pull the envelopes through. Note: make sure that the machine tabs are touching the envelope. The machine will think that something is wrong if it can't sense the envelope, you've put in.
Results will look like this:
Follow the exact same steps for any other paper or media.
However, do the envelopes first and try to keep the batches smaller because the machine is more prone to paper jams and overheating if there is too much paper and it isn't able to cool sufficiently.
if you experience trouble or can't seem to get the printer to do what you want, email helpdesk@mbts.edu and give a description of the issue and what has already been tried so we know how to start assisting you!
